Wordplay

So, I wasn't completely accurate in my prediction -- sadly, the phrase "a heartbeat away from the presidency" did not top the 2009 Banished Words List (a.k.a. "the 34th Annual List of Words to Be Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness"). However, I feel rather vindicated as two other terms for which we owe Sarah Palin our collective debt of gratitude -- "maverick" and "First Dude" -- did make the list. Also, props to Grad School Mommy who added "Main Street/Wall Street" to our list of overused financial metaphors; it accompanies the term "bailout" on the 2009 list!
