Back Up Plan

I love going to the mailbox and finding a new issue of Runner's World. Each month they highlight the back story of an accomplished runner. This month, they feature German Fernandez, an 18 year old runner currently attending Oklahoma State. He set an indoor record for the mile (3:55:02) and like Patch has a poster of Pre in his room.

What is his Fall-back plan? He will become a criminologist

If I didn't get tenure, my back up plan was to become a sprinter. Whew!

On another note

Marathon Mama has posted an interesting story about a South Korean professor who gave his students extra credit for participating in endurance events. Sadly, one of his students died during a marathon - he was held partly responsible.

Hooray for budding criminologists!! (Though, I had to edit your post a tiny bit. You left the "S" out of "OSU" -- when I read "OU" I got excited thinking he was at Oakland! I was looking forward to having him in class -- ha ha!)

Also, speaking of running and crime, that same issue of RW has a story about Trisha Meili -- aka the Central Park Jogger -- and her continued devotion to running. It's really quite a moving article. (The Trailing Spouse is a subscriber, so we just got our issue in the mail, too.)
