Unfortunately, they do seem pretty extraneous to me in their current location. I'm just afraid I'll get slammed by the reviewers for leaving things out. I'm not sure I would take the submission elsewhere, but I'd probably give that some serious thought. The policy makes no sense to me. There are tons of technical issues (as your paper proves) that don't need to be presented to all readers in the text of the paper. <BR/><BR/>I am jealous you are getting things out. As I mentioned in another comment, I'm on my 4th ice day in 10 days at home with the kids. Plus we've all been sick. I have a manuscript that needs about 5 hours to be ready for submission and I haven't been able to find the time in the past month. Pap and I just had that issue come up with a manuscript we sent out. They require an explicit discussion of hypotheses and NO ENDNOTES. We got a 'revise before review.' Thankfully we didn't have 4 pages of endnotes. I ended up just deleting them all but saved the text in case a reviewer requires more clarification. It is ridiculous, though.
