Fun in Cincinnati

It was great to see some of the gang at ACJS in Cincinnati. Regrettably, The Trailing Spouse and I missed Velma by mere hours (sad!), but we were able to enjoy some quality time with Dr. Cranky, Patch, and Scooby. Here we are enjoying a nightcap after having a delicious Scottish dinner at Nicholson's Tavern & Pub:

I heard that good times also were had earlier in the week before Bryan & I arrived -- perhaps Patch would be kind enough to share photos of Velma's bout with the mechanical bull?

It was delightful to see all of you, as always (though Bryan and Scoob's spirited political debate did grow a bit tiresome after about hour four). Can't wait to do it again in St. Louis!!

Congrats to Velma!

Our Velma has received the 2008 Tori Caeti Young Scholar Award from the Juvenile Justice Section of ACJS! "The award is intended to recognize young scholars who have made significant contributions to the field of juvenile justice." I was initially on the selection committee but bowed out when I saw she was one of the nominees.

Congratulations, superstar!
