Easy Reader Was An Alcoholic

Seriously.

Besides the fact that I am completely depressed about this (my kids love Electric Company and watch it on DVD with me. HEY YOU GUUUUUYYYYYSSSS!!!), it is an interesting glimpse into how alcohol, or even drugs, are used to escape the reality of everyday life.

I wonder if anyone has studied drug or alcohol use among really creative people, like artists, actors & musicians. Do you think it's more common in that field than in others? Given the numbers of actors, singers, etc. who have died from overdoses--both intentional and unintentional--it might be something that warrants study.

But really, how could this or this drive one to drink?

(Now I know why he's the only cast member who doesn't appear in the DVD special features.)
